Indus Drama Awards

	IWinners, losers, lights, sound, stage, and whole lot more. The first drama awards were held at the PAF Museum. There were winners, who had brought their mothers with them to receive their trophies, and then there were the losers, and there were many of them. The awards were held to honor the industry and its leading people – those who are still alive and those who are no more. The guests were TV actors, hierarchy of the filmi world, and technocrats who were called to the stage to hand out the trophies. The drama awards were a fallow-up of the im music awards, art of the INDUS NETWORK, which were held a few months ago at the D.H.A Golf Club. The guest list consisted of glitterati that had especially flown in from Lahore. The stage was set majestically against a giant plasma screen and for the first time a live orchestra had been arranged the awards ended up as a race between a select group of drama for
which were two categories: The series and the serials. Series consist of the same four plays for each nomination and the same went for the serials, which consist of three plays for every nomination. The four series fighting for the top honours were “maa aur mamta” “ambulance” “Mera naam hai muhubbat” and “Karachi law” kamran qureshi’s drama series maa aur mamta was a clear winner with six awards and it was a touching moment when he brought his mother to receive it on his behalf. The guests turned up dressed to the nines Natasha D’souza gave the audience a bit of a shock when she descended from the stage in a backless.

	Black and blouse after she received her trophy for the best supporting actress in “Ambulance”. Shafi Mohammad won the best supporting actor for his role in “Maa and Mamta”. The best actress in drama series was Shehla Qureishi for her role in “Mehak” while Humayun Saeed won the equivalent. While Humayun entertained as part of a dancing troupe it was Sonu who rocked the stage, Sonu performed some nifty footwork to atif Aslam’s remix song “Woh Lamhe”. “Maa and Mamta also won an extra title when Sohail Asgar was conferred a special award for his role of a eunuch called saima. The most moving tribute of all was that of najmuz zaman , who passed away only a couple of months ago in Canada. Najm was indus music’s main man and was also one of the few who had started the network with ghazanfar, the current owner. the best serial writer award went to umeraahmed for wajood-e-laraib’.
The best actress in a drama serial went to afreen for role in azal, for which the male counterpart was faisal rehman for his contributions in “azal” and the best serial was “wajood-e-laraib.” The trophy was received by adnan siddiqui, faisal qureshi and fahad Mustafa. Adnan dedicated the trophy to his new born baby, while the rest thanked the crowd for their involvement Qavi khan received a standing ovation for his contributions to the tv world with the late shahzad khalil. This award was presented to khali’s wife badr khalil by Ghazanfar himself.
